After running in three 5Ks, a 10K, two 15Ks, and two half marathons, it was time to make a display for all of our race paraphernalia. I checked out Pinterest and Etsy for precedents, and finally made these two boards for us. The total cost was pretty cheap! We bought the two wood plaques atContinue reading “Putting the Hard-Earned Medals on Display!”
The perfect refresher for post 13.1 mile runs!
It’s Champagne Thursday doggie style!
I finally got around to rewiring a vintage lamp I bought from etsy. I love the white rainbow. I was tired of the brass lamp kits available locally at Home Depot/Lowe’s, so I bought this Jandorf Make a Lamp Kit (60139) in a pewter finish on Amazon. Here’s another (very dark) picture of the lampContinue reading “Rewired Vintage Rainbow Lamp”
Years ago, before we moved into our home, my mama gave me a stack of her old magazines. I dutifully went through the magazines and ripped out the pictures that I liked. There was one set of images from an outdoor kitchen that I still can not forget. This piece was in Better Homes andContinue reading “Outdoor Kitchen Inspiration”
This pretty little flower is blooming right outside our door. The red is so vibrant, it’s hard to photograph (especially with my iPhone camera). I’m going to use this color red as inspiration — for the laundry room color!
Uh oh, the cracked screen on my iPhone is starting to chip away. Sick!
This past weekend, we had a lot of fun getting in the spirit of the season and decorating for Halloween. In an effort to better document my Halloween exploits, I’m going to try to post a project each day. One of the oldest projects on my Halloween to-do list was to make a wreath. LastContinue reading “Semi-Homemade Halloween Wreath”
For my first five years of elementary school, I went to school about two miles from my grandparent’s home at the same school where my mother also taught. Often in the afternoon on the way home from school, we would stop by their home to chat, visit, pick something up, or drop something off. TheContinue reading “My Grandmother’s Cake Carrier”
We went to Brookgreen Gardens Friday evening for their summer evening concert series. It was fun, and I drew my husband as he enjoyed the scene beside me. ETA — Is it super-obvious that I hate drawing ears?
I love, love, love the concept of wearing socks with sandals. This photo shows me trying out this style with my brand new pair of OTBT Black Trenton’s (that I got on final-pair sale for a great deal at Lori’s Shoes of Chicago). These shoes are super-cute, comfy, and make me about 6′-4″ (eye-to-eye withContinue reading “Socks with Sandals”
Saturday morning, I had the luxury of driving around and doing some thrift store shopping in North Carolina. I hit my favorite thrift stores in Calabash, Sunset Beach, and Ocean Isle. (I found some cool items too, but that’s another story.) Heading north on Highway 179, I saw this very awesome sign right next toContinue reading “My New Favorite Candidate: Vote Red Wine”
Some saved wildlife stamps… (why did I save these for years?)
Here’s the cool lamp I got at the Habitat Thrift Store in Ocean Isle, NC this weekend (for a pricey $10.00). It needs a new shade, but I’m totally in love with this one. Now–just have to find a place to put it.
Here’s a picture of our jack-o-lantern’s and overall Halloween diorama that sits outside our apartment door.
